Millennium Nucleus for the Development of Super Adaptable Plants

Dr. Carlos R. Figueroa is Associate Professor at the Institute of Biological Sciences (ICB) of the University of Talca (UTalca). He is Agronomist from University of Chile (2001), and in 2008 he obtained the degree of Doctor of Science mention in Plant Genetic Engineering at the UTalca. He has carried out postdoctoral research stays at Biotechnology of Natural Products’ Group, Technical University Munich (TUM), Germany (2012, 2016). Between 2010 and 2015 he served as Assistant and Associate Prof., and Head of Career (Plant Biotechnology Engineering) at the Faculty of Forest Sciences of the University of Concepción (UdeC). He is currently the Director of the Doctoral program in Sciences, mention in Plant Biology & Biotechnology (DBVB) at the UTalca, the head of the Laboratory of Plant Molecular Physiology at ICB, and Principal Investigator of the Millennium Nucleus for the Development of Super Adaptable Plants (MN-SAP). His research includes the study of transcription factors and hormonal regulation during fruit ripening, in addition to the effects of elicitors on fruit molecular physiology and against pathogens. Currently, his interest is focused on elucidating the role of the jasmonate signaling under oxidative stress conditions.
