Julio Salinas, Ph.D. is a plant molecular biology specialist with postdoctoral studies at the Institut Jacques Monod, Paris, France. He is a Research Professor at Margarita Salas Biological Research Center (CIB Margarita Salas) of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in Spain. His line of research aims to identify and characterize the molecular mechanisms that regulate the adaptation and tolerance of plants to abiotic stress.

Using Arabidopsis as a model system and a multidisciplinary approach, including a combination of genetic, biochemical, genomic, proteomic and cell biology experimental strategies, they have identified regulatory elements involved at different levels (chromatin/epigenetic, transcriptional and post-transcriptional) in adaptation of plants to harsh environments.
